Macoupin Launches TextMyGov Elections for Voters

Getting election information in Macoupin County just got a whole lot easier. County Clerk Pete Duncan announced today that voters can now access key election updates, deadlines, and polling place information instantly through a new texting service, TextMyGov Elections. This new election feature builds off the TextMyGov feature he launched in 2022.

“Everyone carries their phone with them, so it only makes sense that election information should be just as close,” Duncan said. “This service makes sure Macoupin County voters can get quick answers, day or night, without having to search online or make a call.”

What Voters Can Do with TextMyGov Elections
• Sign up for alerts so you never miss an election reminder
• Ask questions by texting simple keywords like ballot, register, or vote
To get started, voters just text their question to 217-439-4499. From there, the system will guide users to answers or links to the webpage they need to get the information they want.

Additionally, voters can opt-in to receive text message notifications from the Macoupin Election Office. Voters looking to receive these election alerts and reminders can text ‘MACOUPINVOTES’ to 91896. They can opt-out at any time by texting ‘STOP’.

Since taking office, Duncan has pushed to make county government more open and accessible. From putting public records online to expanding transparency in budgeting, Macoupin County has earned recognition for embracing technology. The launch of TextMyGov Elections continues that tradition.

“Elections should never feel complicated or out of reach,” Duncan added. “This tool is about making the process simple, clear, and available to every voter in our county.”
